roles you can say yes as
every wish on ifwishlist accepts yes from one or more of these eight roles. the role-grid on a wish's detail page is drawn from this same vocabulary. two roles — verifier and institution — require a verified profile claim before your yes is counted.

a creator
organized this wish
starts the wish, picks the template, sets the number needed, invites the first participants. every wish has exactly one creator.
a participant
counts toward the threshold
says yes alongside others. each yes counts toward the number the wish needs. most of every wish is participants.
a funder
pledges money if the wish activates
commits a dollar amount that releases only if the wish hits its threshold. your card is saved but never charged unless the wish reaches its goal.
a supplier
offers goods or services
promises to deliver materials, labor, space, or services at activation. for wishes that need stuff, space, or hands more than money.
a verifier
needs proofconfirms legitimacy of the wish or its participants
attests that the wish is what it claims to be, or that a participant is who they claim to be. verifier-class — requires a verified profile claim before the role-grid will accept your yes. start proof at /me/profile/roles.
a beneficiary
the wish is for this person or group
the named recipient of the wish's outcome. listed for clarity — beneficiaries don't have to be participants, and a wish for someone else can be co-signed by them or stand independently.
a caller
spreads the word — doesn't count toward the number needed
the wish is a call. the caller widens it — gets the wish in front of new rooms, new networks, new people who might say yes. callers matter, but they don't count toward the number needed — that's reserved for participants.
an institution
needs proofan entity, not an individual
a non-person actor — a venue, a council, a nonprofit, a department. verifier-class because the platform needs proof the entity exists and that the signer can speak for it.

an organizer
soonruns the wish in the world
carries the wish from threshold to delivery — coordinates logistics, schedules, handoffs. distinct from creator (the one who started it) and beneficiary (the one it's for).
a broker
soonmatches resources to wishes
brings supply (funders, suppliers, institutions) to a wish that needs it. earns reputation, not a cut; the platform never holds a brokerage fee.
a host
soonoffers a place
lends a venue, a room, land, or any physical space the wish needs to happen. distinct from supplier (which is broader: goods, services, materials).
a witness
soonattests an outcome
confirms after the fact that the wish delivered what it promised. distinct from verifier (which attests legitimacy up-front, before the threshold crosses).
a guardian
soonspeaks for a dependent
stands in for someone who cannot themselves say yes — a child, a ward, a community member without a profile. guardian-class proof required.
a guarantor
soonbacks another participant
underwrites another participant's commitment. if the participant cannot deliver at activation, the guarantor delivers in their stead. used for high-stakes wishes.
an investor
soondeploys capital with an upside
distinct from funder. a funder's yes is a pledge that releases when the threshold crosses; an investor's yes is capital deployed with an expectation of return, equity, or participation in the wish's downstream value. requires both the wish's commercial-structure flag and a verified investor profile.
a contributor
soonshows up with hands, time, or presence
helps out with hands and time without being one of the people counted. distinct from a caller (who spreads the word) and a participant (who is counted).
